Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

AIWarranty ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data AIWarranty uses and where it is processed.

AIWarranty is designed to be local-first: warranty records and attachments are stored on your device by default. Some optional features (such as Premium AI and subscription management) require network communication with third-party service providers.

2. Data We Store on Your Device

AIWarranty stores the following data locally in the app’s private container:

• Warranty records: title, brand/model (if provided), category, purchase date, expiration date, store, price, serial number, and notes.
• Attachments: photos and PDFs you add to a warranty (stored on-device).
• App preferences: theme, notification preferences, and other settings.

We do not run advertising SDKs and we do not sell your data.

3. Data Processed Off‑Device (Optional)

Some optional features require sending limited data to service providers:

• Premium AI features: When you use AI Recommendations or Verified options / Coverage Finder, the app sends relevant product information (for example: brand, model, category, retailer, purchase date, price, and coverage context) to our backend (Appwrite Functions) to generate results. These requests may include standard technical metadata such as your IP address and request logs for reliability and abuse prevention.
• Subscriptions: Purchases are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status, which may receive purchase/receipt information and related identifiers needed to validate entitlements.

Attachments are not uploaded to any developer-controlled backend. If we ever introduce an optional feature that uploads an attachment for analysis, we will update this policy and provide clear in-app disclosure before upload.

4. Permissions

AIWarranty may request iOS permissions only when needed for specific features:

• Camera (NSCameraUsageDescription): capture receipts and warranty documents for attachments and scanning.
• Microphone (NSMicrophoneUsageDescription): voice entry.
• Speech Recognition (NSSpeechRecognitionUsageDescription): transcribe voice entry. Speech recognition may be processed by Apple depending on device settings and availability.
• Notifications: send expiration reminders (local notifications managed by iOS).

You can deny permissions and still use most of the app’s functionality.

5. iCloud / CloudKit (Optional)

If you enable iCloud Sync in Settings, AIWarranty will sync attachments across your devices using your personal iCloud account via CloudKit (private database). We do not have access to your iCloud account, and we do not run a separate media storage backend.

6. Third‑Party Services

AIWarranty may interact with the following services depending on which features you use:

• Apple iCloud / CloudKit (optional): attachment sync across your devices.
• Apple Speech Recognition (voice entry): transcription services may be provided by Apple.
• RevenueCat (subscriptions): subscription management and entitlement validation. See RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
• Appwrite (Premium AI features): backend Functions used to generate AI results and verified options. Appwrite may process and log requests for operational purposes.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell personal information. Data may be shared with the third-party services listed above only to provide the features you request (for example, processing a Premium AI lookup or validating a subscription entitlement).

8. Your Choices & Rights

• Delete data: you can delete warranties and attachments inside the app. Uninstalling the app removes on-device data.
• Export: you can export warranty data as JSON or CSV from Settings.
• Disable iCloud Sync: you can turn iCloud Sync on/off in Settings.
• Manage subscriptions: you can manage or cancel subscriptions in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.

9. Data Retention

On-device data remains until you delete it or uninstall the app. Third-party services may retain limited operational logs for a period of time consistent with their policies.

10. Security

AIWarranty stores data in the app sandbox protected by iOS security. We recommend using a device passcode for full device encryption.

11. Children’s Privacy

AIWarranty is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

12. International Users

When you use networked features (subscriptions or Premium AI), data may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with an updated “Last Updated” date.
